Tale Spinnin’ is the fifth studio album by the American jazz fusion band Weather Report. They recorded the album together with Leon “Ndugu” Chancler on drums. It marks a turning point for the band, as they used more electronic influences on this record. This unknown gem can be considered as one of their finest pieces of music. The songs became more melodic and more structured, although there is still some of their wild jamming on this record. Funky bass rhythms and deep grooves, it’s a mixture of jazz and folk songs. Altogether it’s a diverse and groovy work of their jazz fusion.
Throughout most of Weather Report’s existence, the band was a quintet of
keyboards, saxophone, bass, drums and percussion. Famous members were the
American saxophonist Wayne Shorter, keyboard player Joe Zawinul, bassist Jaco
Pastorius and drummer Chester
Thompson.
The Weather Report Tale Spinnin’ release contains an insert.
