Numerous texts on the market focusing on behaviour management have a slight tendency to saturate the reader in theoretical perspectives and bury effective strategies in dense explanatory material. This book is designed to be simple, effective and easily accessible to the reader. The approach of the book is simple - practitioners have been asked to identify behaviours they would like to appear in a book about behaviour. These have been collated and organised into appropriate sections. Each behaviour is one that practitioners encounter in their day to day dealing with children. By using quotes and stories told by the practitioner as the starting point, each page of the text takes the form of a supportive summary which address the behaviour, identifies possible causes, notes warning signs when the behaviour may occur, and offers a range of tried and tested strategies to manage the behaviour effectively. It also ensures practitioners are provided with a series of approaches that they should avoid at all costs and offers practitioners ideas for effective prevention for the behaviour.
