"A GREAT and challenging game!"
5 stars"

Review by William on 16th March, 2012

I liked this game a lot, I played it single player from start to finish and it was very addictive. The final boss battle was hard but afterwards I was relieved to have finished the game, I'm planning to play it again sometime. Great game! Buy it!

"Why didn't people give this a shot-"
5 stars"

Review by Andrew on 2nd January, 2013

Great game, innovative in some areas but others didn't push the envelope as much as I would of hoped!

Can be buggy and unstable at times an without a patch coming it can undo a levels worth of progress.

It is what it is.

A great new take on a post modern shooter

"One of the best games I have played"
4 stars"

Review by Matthew on 29th May, 2012

Syndicate is a fun game to play. Single player lasts about 8 hours. It's short but fun,!! In no time at all you 'll be corrupting hapless foes to do you bidding. Game play was great(I played on a dual core MacBook with win7) but there were times the fun of the game was plagued by lag issues…mainly the result do the graphical flaring. Overall a fantastic game and a lot of fun.

"An interesting take on the Syndicate universe"
4 stars"

Review by Keith on 14th May, 2012

Haven't played much of it yet but what I have so far has been pretty fun. Nothing groundbreaking that I've seen but as long as you're enjoying the game what does it really matter-

"Bland, linear Deux Ex III knock-off."
1 stars"

Review by Hamish on 1st May, 2012

Here are the bullet points:

  • BAD XBox 360 port. The game thinks you have an XBox controller plugged in when you don't (e.g. prompts to “press RT to continue” – WTF–). And yes, this confusion is because I happen to have a Logitech G13 keyboard plugged in. NO EXCUSES FOR LAZY PORTING!
  • Lacklustre, forgettable plot.
  • Cookie-cutter format – think Deux Ex III but with less atmosphere, dialogue, depth, freedom, plot.
  • Soul destroyingly repetitive boss fights where the only successful tactics are Google and luck.
  • The main gimmick of the game – Chip powers like Persuade, Suicide, Backfire – have only short lived appeal. They are repetitive and tedious to use also.

I'd like to give this game two stars out of five, but I can't think of any unique or redeeming aspects to it, so I give it only one. This is simply a generic FPS game that seems to be trying to cash in on our nostalgia for classic titles of old, such as the excellent genre-changing Bullfrog game of the same name.

Description

“Fantastic, nail-biting cooperative play…” Gamespot

In the not too distant future, the world is divided into regions controlled by mega-corporations known as Syndicates. In this future, business is war, and you are the weapon: the latest prototype agent for Eurocorp, one of the most ruthless Syndicates in a world dominated by greed…

Syndicate is the re-imagination of a cult classic franchise from 1993 – a unique action shooter set in a not too distant future, where Business is War. 2069 – No longer governed by politicians, the developed world is divided up into regions controlled by megacorporations known as Syndicates. These Syndicates have revolutionized how the consumer interacts with the digital world. No longer does the consumer require a device to access the world's data and control their technology, they can do this at the blink of an eye via neural chip implant. Civilians flocked to be “chip'd” and enjoy all that their selected Syndicate has to offer; housing, medical, banking, insurance, education, entertainment and jobs. One complete package. One complete lifestyle. In return, the Syndicates gained unprecedented insights, and control, over the individual and their behaviour. With little governmental oversight, business has become war.

Take on the role of Miles Kilo, Eurocorp's latest prototype agent, and embark on a brutal action adventure of corruption and revenge.

Features:

  • Chip Enhanced Gameplay: Slow down time, see through walls, and breach your enemy and everything digital in the world with Dart vision – A neural DART6 chip implant that allows you to interface directly with the Dataverse.
  • 4-Player Online Co-op: Assemble your Syndicate for global domination. A 4-player, online co-op experience like no other, with chip enhanced gameplay and 9 missions re-imagined from the original Syndicate.
  • Visceral FPS Experience: Utilize an upgradable arsenal of futuristic weapons, armor and ear to annihilate your enemies and harvest their chip technology for personal advancement and sinister corporate greed.
  • Sci-Fi Fiction: Immerse yourself in the world of Syndicate 2069, with a world-class sci-fi story experience, written by bestselling author Richard Morgan.

Review by Gamespot
“… it's important to know what you want from this shooter before you commit. Come to it for the thrills of joining a team and mowing down gunners like so many weeds in a Colorado research facility. Come to it for a chilly vision of the future, where the minds of meddlers can be altered with a simple computer program. There are numerous games better at providing single-player satisfaction, however, and this is where Syndicate falters. While it isn't entirely successful, the campaign still dares to be different. And while "different” isn't the same as “great,” Syndicate reminds you that with a bit of creative effort, shooters don't have to play by Modern Warfare rules to be truly modern." 7.5/10
