"Online not quite working?"
5 stars"

Anyone else can't find a single person in free for all? Friends match works fine. Im using USB dongle. Maybe we can only play against other NZ'ers and just need more poeple online?

"Brilliant Game"
5 stars"

I've been playing Smash Bros. since the '64 days. They've always been quality games and Brawl is no exception. There are heaps of levels and characters, an adventure mode (which can be played co-operatively), and of course, multiplayer Brawl. There is just so much to do in this game. I don't feel like I've even made a dent in collecting the trophies and stickers, and I've been playing for hours and hours. It's a good game alone, but it's even better with friends, and is compatible with all Wii and Gamecube controller types. The online, as others have mentioned, is a little lacking. The speed is not that great, but if you designate a time to connect with friends and avoid laggy levels, you can get some good online Brawling done.

"Best Instalment Yet!"
5 stars"

I've been a fan of Nintendo for a long time now and have always felt that it lacked one of a kind exclusive games. However after playing SSBB, all I can say is “Good Job!”

The game is a perfect combination of single player events and multiplayer events with lot's of trophies and challenges to acquire makes this the ultimate game. I would have to say it is the best instalment to date in the Brawl series.

This is the perfect game to play with freinds or on your lonesome and you can even configure the controls. This game can be played a million times over and still leave you hungry for more. Overall this is a great game and will soon be the single reason for turning on my Wii each day.

"Beat em up."
3 stars"

I liked this game alot because it was easy to play had lot of characters to choose from and you could unlock characters. The down side of the game was that you cant do a 2 player wireless with the rest of the world (thats right one player only) and it takes hours on end to find other players online in the free for all.

"Just another Smash Bros"
3 stars"

I don't think Brawl quite lived up to the hype that it had built up for itself over the years, to be honest.

The online mode itself is flawed in New Zealand; it's incredibly hard to connect to any other players and you'll find yourself waiting for a game longer than actually playing the game.

Multiplayer mode is the same old, there's nothing there that's really ‘extra’ to talk about. You're still a cast of lovable characters and interesting stages.

I did like the design function on creating a stage; I believe that's probably the most innovative part of Brawl. I spent hours creating my own personal death traps and difficult stages and had great fun competing against others in my near-impossible designs.

Overall, unless you enjoy creating a stage and don't mind not connecting online, Brawl feels just like another Smash Bros. Nothing more, nothing less.

Description

Duke it out with your favorite Nintendo characters in Super Smash Bros. for the Wii. Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Series makes a special appearance in this title for the Wii game system. The new Smash Bros. will include a number of new playable characters such as Meta Knight from the Kirby games, Pit from Kid Icarus, Zero Suit Samus (i.e. Samus without her armour) from Metroid: Zero Mission, Wario and, most unexpectedly, Solid Snake from Metal Gear and Sonic the Hedgehog, Sega's loveable blue blur! The Nintendogs also make an appearance, although only as an item for obscuring the screen, and each character now seems to have some gigantic new special attacks that take up the whole screen. Not only will the game have an online mode but it is the only major Nintendo title to use the “shell” controller by default rather than the Wii remote.

Game storyline: In multiplayer games, characters from all Nintendo universes meet up in Nintendo locales to duke it out. In the solo mode called “The Subspace Emissary,” the world of Smash Bros. is invaded by an entity called the Ancient Minister and his army of creatures, called “The Primid.” Normally, characters come alive in the world of Smash Bros. to do battle, then turn back into trophies when defeated. However, the Ancient Minister starts turning characters into trophies to harness their power, then detonates bombs that suck pieces of the world back into his realm of Subspace. Eventually, all the characters must work together to defeat the invading creatures from Subspace – this is accomplished by playing through side-scrolling levels.
How to progress through the game: For multiplayer games, players pick characters, set rules and locations for where they want to play and then duke it out. In Solo Mode, characters play through a long, side-scrolling adventure, beating up enemies along the way as they watch short cinematics starring their favorite characters.

Characters: Mario, Samus, Bowser, Donkey Kong®, Solid Snake, Meta Knight, Kirby™, Pikachu®, Zero Suit Samus, Link, Zelda™, Pit and Wario™, to name just a few. Anyone and anything from a Nintendo universe could appear in this game in one form or another.

Special powers/weapons/moves/features: Anything from a Nintendo game could conceivably be in this game, whether it's a musical score, an obscure item or a character that shows up to help the fighters. Super Smash Bros.Brawl is eminently customizable, so players can choose the frequency of items appearing, adjust musical scores and basically play the game however they'd like. Items range from baseball bats to proximity mines to Poké Balls to Assist Trophies, which spawn characters like Hammer Bros. and Sim City's Dr. Wright to attack others.

  • Play with 4 types of controllers!: Wii Remote, Wii Remote & Nunchuk, Classic Controller and the GameCube controller.
  • Your Favorite Veteran Fighters Are Back! Mario, Link, Kirby, Pikachu, Fox, Samus, Zelda, Bowser and Donkey Kong are ready for more action! New characters also join in the bash this time around!
  • Brawl in your favorite Nintendo Locations!: Battlefield, Delfino Plaza, Yoshi's Island, Lylat Cruise, Bridge of Eldin and Smashville are some of the places to get your Brawl on!
