He wanted to see the world … but wound up in Lover’s Lane!

The pinnacle of several comedy masterpieces directed by Preston Sturges in the early 40s and renowned as the finest movie-about-a-movie ever made. Sullivan’s Travels stars Joel McCrea as a successful Hollywood director who tires of his lightweight comedies and plans to direct a social spic about the poor and homeless titled O Brother, Where Art Thou (the Coen Brothers used the titles in their 2000 comedy starring George Clooney). When his producers point out his inexperience with poverty, he hits the road as a hobo and along the way finds the lovely Veronica Lake - and more trouble than he ever dreamed of!
