Excerpt from Studies in the Teaching of History The following pages are concerned with the teaching Of boys and girls in the middle forms Of secondary schools, and even for this stage deal with only a small number Of the numerous problems presented by the teaching Of history. They aim at bringing into strong relief a few fundamental positions, and make no claim to be an ex haustive treatment of the subject. If, therefore, certain methods and principles of proved value are not men tioned, it must not be concluded that they have been either overlooked or undervalued.
