This japanese movie has been remastered in anamorphic widescreen with 5.1 surround sound. It would have been the perfect DVD edition if it weren't for two little problems. Most people wouldn't care about them (but I'M not most people). Two shots in the movie have unremovable japanese subtitles (a sign in London and a New York Times newspaper) and instead of an english version of the movie, we have the japanese cut with a 5.1 english soundtrack. BUT DON'T WORRY! It syncs just fine with the japanese cut. There is an option for english opening and ending credits (the japanese end credits are longer) and there are (optional) subtitles for the japanese text in the film (no captions for the english soundtrack). To make up for the little subtitle problem they gave the DVD awesome menus that look and sound like the arcade game machine (the ‘insert coin’ sequence and the fight in the main menu background put a VERY big smile on my face).
If this ‘UNCUT’ movie is missing ANYTHING then it's probably just for pacing because it has violence (bullets, fists, claws, teeth and blood everywhere), nudity (breasts and butt in the shower) and even some swearing. The DVD doesn't have the collectable mini-comic that the US version has but if you REALLY want the comic, just try to buy the WHOLE comic series on the internet! The ‘special features’ on the disc aren't really that special. Just pictures and text that you would find on a few Street Fighter websites. There are also some trailers for Street Fighter and MADMAN related DVD's.
At a decent price this DVD will definitely keep you crazy Street Fighter fans happy until the new challenger (next-gen disc) comes out.
