So far have only watched Steel Magnolias, and to all you ladies, I watched this with my partner and ‘yes’ even he loved it. His only complaint is that there is not a part two to this movie, so there is hope out there for men and our girly movies. We both loved this movie.
Susan Sarandon and Julia Roberts star in this funny, bittersweet and heart-warming movie about the development of an unlikely friendship between two remarkable women. Jackie is a divorced mother of two. Isabel is the career-minded girlfriend of Jackie's ex-husband Luke (Ed Harris), forced into the unwelcome role of stepmother to their children. It is the universal dilemma of the non-traditional family - they all love the children but the complex interplay between parents, step-parents, step-children, ex-spouses and significant others is decidedly tricky. But when Jackie discovers she is ill, both women realise they must put aside their differences to find a common ground and celebrate life to the fullest… while they have the chance.
At The center of the group is Shelby Eatenton (Julia Roberts), newly married and joyfully pregnant, despite the fact that her diabetes could make childbirth life-threatening.
Terrified and angry at the possibility of losing her only daughter, Lynn Eatenton (Sally Field) looks to her four closest friends for strength and laughter as she battles her deepest fears of death in order to join Shelby in celebrating the miracle of new life.
