Richard Dean Anderson leaves the starring role to take up an occasional one, which leaves the excellent Ben Browder (Farscape) to come into the lead role as Lt. Colonel Cameron Mitchell.
This season introduces a new enemy, a powerful group of beings called the Ori, mostly replacing the Go'auld (apart from Ba'al) as the prime enemy. It also represents a shift away from Ancient Egyptian Mythology towards Arthurian Mythology, with Merlin becoming an important character as the series moves on.
