Star Wars The Complete Saga Box Set reviews

I have been an avid Star Wars fan from when I was a kid and when I found out it was coming out on Blu-ray I had to get it.

Of course George Lucas in his infinite wisdom has altered some more scenes in the 6 movie set. Some like Ep 1 where they replaced the horrible puppet with a fully CGI one was definitely a good edit. Most of the other changes go unnoticed like the Ewoks blinking.

However Vader shouting no when hes throwing the Emperor to his doom ruins the drama at the end of ROTJ, and is almost laughable.

If you can look past that edit all others are minor and the films haven't changed from the DVD release. I have to say the sound is absolutely awesome, you need to hear it on 5.1 or above. Ships zoom from behind, lazer blasts travel across the room, the sound is truly epic. All movies look fantastic too on Blu-ray with maybe the exception of A new hope which looks grainy at time but this is probably due to its age and doesn't detract too much.

Probably the best feature of this 6 Blu-ray set is the special features. There is tons of it and its worth getting just to watch the bonus features.

I would have given it an excellent score but unfortunately Lucas changed a little too much again, shame he could not release the original unedited original trilogy. Oh well.

Until they release the original version pre editing of the original trilogy this is the best collection there is out at the moment.

Mighty Ape have produced another great box set, the quality is excellent I loved it, if your a fan of star wars or sci fi you need this in your collection…I buy all my blurays from mighty ape they are great..and ask for a price wish list.

I received this a a gift, and I have to wonder why my friend hates me so much. George Lucas just does not know when to stop degrading the Original Trilogy. Avoid this unless you're young and don't know any better.

All thoughts on the movies themselves aside, this pack is great. I can't see Disney releasing a 9 film box set in years to come. This is the best way to watch Star Wars.

This is Star Wars looking better than it's looked before, my only problem with the set is the lack of an English Dolby Digital soundtrack. Really though this is more to do with Sony's limited blu-ray regions choices (3 blu-ray vs 8 for DVD), and that dts-HD be mandatory for all blu-ray releases.

The other minor grievance is the package concentrates on including only NEW stuff in the special feature discs. So if you want to see the deleted scenes from Episodes I-III in full HD, sorry they're not here. Perhaps the biggest casualty here is the awesome “Empire of Dreams” documentary is not here…

So in general you should definitely buy this, but hold on to your DVD's for a little while longer.

So far I have watched but one movie and a select few of the special features. I want to milk this experience for every little bit it is worth. I was wondering how the changes Lucas made would impact the films and so far what I have noticed has done nothing but enhance the films. I was also curious about the change in quality and what I would see, so far I have seen more detail and been left with an even greater sense of awe, compared to the first time I ever saw Episode One. I can safely say that even though it is blatantly obvious that George, the greatest story teller ever, is getting every last cent he can out of the franchise I am pleased he decided to do this. I highly recommend this set, and Blu Ray for that matter and give this 6 out 5.

Waiting for this gem to hit blu-ray and it was totally worth it! If you don't here from me for a good 9 hours don't worry!

An excellent set with a good collection of additional features. It's a shame you can't buy the real original unadulterated trilogy (this set has all the dumb changes made by Lucas) but there's no choice – this is the best available set for fans and newcomers to the series.

This is a great opportunity to look at the Star Wars collection in the comfort of your own home. A friend and myself are looking at this together and thoroughly enjoying the whole experience. While the box it was expensive – it was thoroughly worthwhile and will provide hours of entertainment.

I use to have the set on DVD which I thought was awesome but Blu Ray blows ya mind when watching this set on a big HD screen, and the sound is just out there totally!

9 discs, over 40 hours of special features, get the popcorn out and prepare for pure awesome!

Having the whole saga in one box set, and in great quality is a dream come true.

I have waited years for the complete star wars collection to make it to blu ray. Finally they are here, a must for every fan alike and what better way to watch all films than in full hd that only blu ray can deliver.

It's hard to know where to start with this review. Nedless to say I was very excited when it arrived the day after I purchased it. The Artwork on the box is awesome and appears to be in the style concept sketches in colour.

It also comes with a Guide To The Galaxy booklet which is filled with beautiful full coloured drawings of scenes from all 6 movies. It includes a breakdown of what content is on each disc, which is a nice touch.

Each Bluray Disc has a fullsize image of a character from the movie, again in the style of a drawn picture simillar to a pastel type effect.

Each disc's content is amazing, its full THX sound and HD as well. I grew up with these movies and yet when I started watching I was glued to my seat in a way that took me right back to the first time I watched them.

It was almost like seeing them for the first time and I found myself caught up in it all. This is truely an amazing box set .

I give it 5 stars and only because I can't award 6.

Overall this was a great purchase, and long awaited. It would have been nice to get the original theatrical cuts included in the Blu Rays. It was a good idea to cut out the terrible muppet version of Yoda from Phantom Menance and replace him with the CG version seen in RotS. The picture quality of the Phantom Menance wasn't as good as I thought it'd be, the originals look great considering when they were made. Definitely worth the purchase for all the Die Hard Star Wars fans out there.

Good to finally have a box set that collects all of the Star Wars episodes together. The original trilogy still holds its' own after being digitally remastered.

A long time ago I was seven years old. Blu-ray has given a massive improvement for sound and picture quality for the 4–6 movies but 1–3 not much as it was all ready filmed in digital. Yes Lucas couldn't help himself playing with some scenes but that's the way he rolls. If you want the orginals, go buy VHS copies. The three extra discs are packed with hours of goodies. As Obi One would say “this is the gift you are looking for” Well thats what he told me.

Star Wars! Blu-ray! HD! 9-Discs! The world is a better place because of this!

So far i've only watched the Phantom Menace, but the improvements to the CGI and added scenes and moments make it well worth the money. And the sound is phenomenal! Even ol' Jar Jar is looking awesome!

Loved watching this epic again with my sons beside me.

This remastered version is awesome! Looks and sounds great and I also noticed that they replaced the Yoda from episode 1 with the computer generated Yoda from episode 2 & 3 which is great, would have been impressed if they did the same with episode 5 & 6, probably asking for to much though.
