"Thorughly Engaging & Enjoyable"
4 stars"

Even if you haven't played any of the Star – Wars games before, or if you didn't really enjoy the whole saga, I recommend that you buy this game. It has good graphics, an immersive gameplay style, and should appeal to all audiences.

The difficulty at some times is a bit too easy though, even on the Hard setting

All in all a good, cheap buy though.

Graphics – 8– some good detail, but can get a bit bland in open spaces. A bit jumpy at times

Gameplay – 9 -Light Side or Dark- you decide!
It wasn't too repetitive although walking long distances can be annoying. A bit easy , as I said. Good humour used as well.

Sound – 10 – Good traditional Star Wars sound with nice new combat sounds and music added in.

Total – 9– Good Length, Graphics and Sound.

If you are a fan of the Star Wars series or just starting out, buy this game.

"Spectacular game ruined by bugs."
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Possibly the finest Star Wars game ever, marred only by appalling quality control. KOTOR features a veritable plethora of bugs, including a variety of lock-ups, crashes, graphical anomalies and chronic memory leaks. Those of you in possession of an ATI graphics accelerator will bear the brunt of KOTOR's ‘undocumented features’. This is compounded by the fact that ATI's technical support is about as impressive as a multiple amputee at a breakdancing competition. Despite numerous driver releases, KOTOR still won't run reliably and is prone to spontaneous rebooting, catastrophic lock-ups and corrupting save games at the most inopportune moments. I invented several new expletives whilst playing this game.

This is a shame, as KOTOR really is brilliant. The story is immersive, the character development and NPC interaction genuinely believable and the combat is challenging without being frustratingly difficult. Graphics, sound, and interface all compliment the game perfectly, contributing to the experience rather than being mediocre, jarring or intrusive. Sadly, you require the patience of Job to endure its innumerable eccentricities, and given Bioware's track record, I really expected more from them. If you're a die-hard Star Wars fan and want to revel in one of the finest RPGs ever made, set in a universe both familiar and fantastic, KOTOR will prove more than sufficient. On the other hand, if you've the temperament of rabid pit-bull and little knowledge of how to ‘tweak’ your display settings or edit ‘ini’ files, do yourself a favour and run for the hills.

Verdict: Star Wars nerds and masochists only.

"A worthy adventure"
4 stars"

For those that enjoy RPGs, emersing adventure stories or are fans of the Star Wars universe, then this is a worthy addition to your collection.

SW: KOTOR is a role playing game where you create one character and lead a party of pre-determined characters into the Star Wars Universe. A major bonus in regards of interest and replayability is the focus on the story and the constant plot/sub quest options which allow you to choose the side of light or take the route of the dark side.

For those that have played any of the Fallout, or Neverwinter Nights games, character development will seem second nature, with feats and stat allocation very similar to those games. There are 3 types of character roles to choose from at the start of the game with your character changing roles into one of 3 new roles later on.

Graphics 8 – they are good, though one corridor can look like another. Fight scenes with blaster fire being deflected off lightsabers is fantastic. Cut scenes are great as are the varied environments you will visit in the course of the adventure.

Sound 8 – very good and atmospheric, speech throughout the game makes for a much more immersing environment.

Gameplay 7.5 – With multiple ways to complete quests and multiple endings this has replay value. The characters in your party all have stories and actually have interesting (and sometimes downright funny things to say). Combat is adequate if somewhat repetitive.

Tilt 7 – I liked this game and am glad I bought it, but the character development was a little weak from my point of view and I would have liked to have more freedom to move around closer to the beginning of the game.

"Amazing"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

My friends raved about this on the Xbox, and now I completely understand where they were coming from. This has to be one of the best titles I have ever played, up there easily in my estimates with RPG classics like Fallout (my favourite RPG).

This game is all about storyline, and it's deep and involving with plenty of moral delemas and nefarious individuals to keep you interested. There's even a love story to bout.

The graphics are all top-notch and some of the locales you'll visit are visually stunning. The character models are well detailed and add to the overall atmosphere of the game.

The sound, as we've come to expect in Star Wars games, is top-notch and full of those cheesy laser blasts and lightsaber movie sounds. The voice acting is pretty damn good, with every dialog being voiced, no simple text lines here.

The gameplay is fairly varied (maybe not as much as some RPGs) allowing you to choose your gamestyle via your starting profession, your choice of skills and feats. KOTOR uses a hybrid D20 system, so many will already be familiar with it if you've played any of the DnD style games.

My only gripe maybe the relatively easy fights. I never struggled in any of my fights in KOTOR (using the difficult setting) and the fights were usually over a little too quickly.

The amount of work that has gone into this is awesome, with all the detail I was fairly surprised to find it's a fairly long game. There's a heck of a lot of locales, and lots of sub-quests and stories to keep you going for many hours. Whether you're a Star Wars fan, an RPG fan or just a gamer, this is a must buy.

"One word: Excellent"

Best game I have played in a long time. The amount of scope and depth in this game is amazing…and the story line is great too. Graphics are good and fight scenes are fun to watch.

You won't regret buying it :)

"Terrific"

Purchased on Mighty Ape

I love RPGs but I'm not a huge fan of Star Wars and for that reason I never really considered this game until someone recommended I get it. I'm sure glad I am. It could have been better…some of the locations on the different planets weren't done very well and lacked detail, and I didn't like the inventory system but those are trivial problems. It's a very enjoyable, engaging, long and stirring epic adventure that will appeal to RPG gamers of old who think there are too many MMORPGs being made these days that lack story, depth and are all about combat.

Even if you're not a fan of Star Wars and think being a jedi is gay you'll still like it. You can forget about your lightsaber and frumpy jedi robes and strap on your battle armor and pick up your heavy reapeating blaster instead.

Definately one of the best games I've played in a long time. Now I'm gonna buy part two.
