Star Trek: Into Darkness reviews

This movie is far better than I expected. Action packed, great dialogue and character Interactions. Full to the brim with Trekkie Goodness!

As a long time Trekkie, it was a pleasure to watch this film. The most surprising twist was the complete revisit to the third Star Trek Movie, Wrath of Khan, where it was Spock who sacrificed himself. This shows how Khan came to where he got so much hatred for Kirk and Spock. Hope JJ Abrams keeps up the good work in the next movie.

An entertaining Star Trek adventure with characters true to form.

Having seen the original ST movies this one takes us to a whole new level. I really enjoyed this film and cant wait for the next one, as I am sure there will be a next one.

There are two basic types of movie. The first is the genre type which is usually built around the Hollywood system and the second is the art house or indy movie. This type does not follow the Hollywood system and usually has a healthy injection of psychoanalytical concepts.

Star Trek: Into Darkness (J J Abrams 2014) although produced under the Hollywood system has psychoanalytical concepts woven into the rather shallow and over used plot. Lets face it Khan first appeared in ‘Space Seed’ the 24th episode in the original series then in Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan now again in 'Into Darkness. I was hoping that J J Abrams was able to take this franchise to places where no man had gone before and I can see why he employed so many psychoanalytical concepts (e.g. Notice how overwhelmingly white and bright the interior of the Enterprise is compared to how dark the rest of the movie is, I could write a couple of paragraphs as to what this juxtaposition means but I will let you figure it out) unfortunately this does not make the plot more sophisticated. If it was not for the great special effects I would have rated this movie 2 stars.

Loved this Star Trek movie. Great acting, action was continuous, with plenty of twists along the way. Definitely need to watch Star Trek XI first to understand why the old Mr Spock is consulted by the young Mr Spock!

Great movie recommended

I loved this and how well the characters have the mannerisms

2009's Star Trek bought the franchise back to life after a series of sub-par sequels and Star Trek Into Darkness maintains that winning formula.

Visually the films is fantastic, utilising the advancement of special effects. The performances are great too especially Cumberbatch as the terrifying villain John Harrison. The cast have really good chemistry so it's not just the wonderful action sequences that keep you interested but also the relationships between them.

I did have some problems with the film, but I won't got into that as they don't effect the excitement and joy you will get from this film, even if it's not as good as the first.

Enjoyable

I am definatly a Trekkie fan,I loved star trek into darkness and the previous one.I had heard though this didn't have such a good rating,but after watching it I could not see why -I have watched it often and loved the cast 100%.

Being an original trekkie fan, and having gone to several conventions and meeting up with cast members, am loving that the next generation of movies are bigger and better, more spectacular, great stories. Star trek into darkness continues it's intriguing journey, great cast as always, can't wait for next adventure, thanks faye.

If you enjoyed the first Star Trek in this new series you will love this one, Khan is back and as devious as ever. A must watch for Trekky fans.

For those trekkies out there this is an incredible journey. The take on Kahn is excellent and in no way detracts from the original. I would recommend this movie to anyone who is into a good story, with plenty of action and emotional happenings.
