"Dont believe the hype"

Oh what could have been rpg fans. I have been waiting for this game for a LONG time. After reading many import reviews and being told about it by my japanese friends I was hyped up for an rpg that would be the equal of FFX (or any final fantasy game). Unfortunately this is not so. Yes, the combat engine is awesome, but for an rpg you will be doing little combat, much more standing around listening to the terrible voice acting of an average story. Or you will be running around exploring a 3d map with average graphics(almost downright poor in parts).

Why oh why couldnt they stick to drawn backgrounds with a fixed perspective (ala FF7-FFX-2). The 3d idea falls short and u will be constantly re-adjusting the camera. The music is random, you will go from Soothing Orchestral music while escaping from an invading space army, to full on rock tunes while wandering around a peaceful forest. WTF?

I have played many rpgs this year, Legaia 2, Suikoden 3, Xenosaga Ep1, ShadowHearts, FFX, FFX2 and I am sad to say that all of the above are better than Star Ocean Till the end of time.

"The Best Game ever!"

Ah, well im still on first disc, but it feels like ive been playing for hours (well like 19 or 20 hours to tell the truth) and im abit past halfway on disc 1, a friend off mine, whos doing everything is on like over 120+ and completed the game and is just doing all the extras

the Grapfics are sexeh, music some are ok, some sound like crap… battle system really fun, more fun then any other RPG. Story, i just love it soo damn much, mainly at one part, that was so awsome (a movie in the game FMC) sent chills down my spin.

im loving it. i think its a must get!

its either this or half life 2, for my fav game. Well probly both.

"Excellent Epic RPG"

I've been waiting for a great PS2 console Jap RPG for a long time, since FFX… and Star Ocean has delivered :)

I was a fan of Star Ocean: Second Story on the PSX though I never did get to finish it. Till The End Of Time is bassically the same formular but with excellent graphics, large improvments all over the board (the invention system comes to mind) and a great (if not better) story set in fururistic and fantasy environments.

I'm maybe 20 hours in and it still feels like I've just started (has deffinatly earned its place in my collection), this game is huge and I can't wait to keep playing, I even took a day off work today to play some more… which reminds me, Star Ocean calls ;)

"A Slow Yet Exciting Adventure"
4 stars"

Yes, true. Star Ocean III did not quite live up to my expectations, and did not quite meet the standards set by its predecessor. That's not to say that it isn't a good game. I am just saying that the story starts off really slow, and it takes awhile to get into, and get to the action and understanding that came right from the start of Star Ocean II.

Music wise, the melodies suit the mood but aren't very memorable. The music is set at a level equal to the voice overs and sometimes gets annoying when all you are trying to do is listen to what the characters are attempting to say.

Graphics wise, I am astounded. Square-Enix has pulled off nice full-3D graphics, with cell-shaded character models blending well together. It is quite an interesting mix. The FMV sequences are astounding, as per usual, and the images suit the themes.

Overall, this game is worth getting. The characters are well thought out, and the storyline does get better. Don't be fooled. This is a must get game!

"A must have!"

I originally played the first version of this game many years ago, i got so hooked on it and couldn't stop playing it, when i heard that there was a version being released on ps2 i couldn't wait!! I love RPG games and if your thinking of getting a new one i would be seriously think about this one.

Battle style – Original and different – 9/10.

The battle style through the whole star ocean series has been excellent, a bit different from the real rpg king final fantasy as you can actually move and dodge attacks manually in a 3d battle enviroment, also more battle incentives with the ability to earn battles trophies for 300 different things – from consectives hit to a not being hit in a battle.

Graphics – Great 3d Graphics – 8/10

Great 3d graphics especially when you are battling in the 3d enviroment, i think some people look unusual but i guess they are not all earthlings. Overall the graphics are good but i think could be improved.

Music/Sound – hmm this is music? – 3/10

I think the music is not well planned, it is basically just random and can get very repetitive, other rpg games may have same music throughout but it isn't as bold. I think this is the only downside of the game.

Overall this game is a must have great game play, lots of things to do during the game and cannot be finished really quickly, SquareEnix (SqaureSoft) has made another great rpg, it may not have as much input as a game like final fantasy but it isn't to far behind.

If you like RPGgames this is a must have, buy it today at GP Store!

9.5/10 – (Excluding bad music)
