"This book is about life and is written in plain everyday language. The author boldly faces up to those fundamental questions rankling at the back of one's mind such as: Is there really a God? Where is He? What is the nature of the soul? What is truth? Is reincarnation true? Is there any purpose in the universe? Does God cause suffering? Do angels exist? Who am I? Can effect become cause? Does space and time really exist? etc. He probes deep into the structure of your mind and with great clarity shows you how your mind works and how you can use it to find success in everything you do. He shows how we attract our present circumstances and how emotionally intense events are not only registered in our psychic memory but also in the memories of the cells of our body and what this means for us. He devotes a chapter in which he advocates "going within" through meditation to find solutions to our problems. Religion is examined with candor. He explains the many positive benefits of religion, examines its dark side and points out that, like individuals, some religions must resolve and get rid of the baggage of past evil deeds before they and their followers can step into the light.
The author shows how, in spite of itself science through its quantum theories is currently making discoveries which lead to a new view of the universe more in line with that of the essence of the religions and the experiences of the mystics of this world. He shows how science and religion are at last beginning to merge. For example there is now scientific proof of the value of prayer; proof that the mind is non-local, that is it is not located in the brain and also can cause actions over distance; that there is no solid matter in the universe, it is all energy in one form or another. He further states that a field of energy outside the material universe has been discovered where speeds exceed that of light. It has also been found that our human consciousness is directly connected with matter and influences (at least) its microscopic particles. The nature of the universe as being holographic is explored. These scientific findings have profound spiritual significance. He quotes experts on the future of mankind, including Arthur C. Clark, Nobel physicist Brian Josephson, Stephen Hawking etc...and many more.
Reading this book will prepare you for the new age that is fast enveloping the earth. The author's message is that in spite of the terrorism and devastation of the earth currently going on, there is powerful hope. There are powerful spiritual forces at work, which will overcome the present chaos and lead us into a life of enlightenment and eventually of love."
Archie was born in Glasgow, Scotland where he lived for 21 years before being drafted into the British Army in August 1943. in 1944 he was shipped out to India, Burma (now Myanmar), Malaya and other countries in the Far East. He took part in the invasion of Malaya, landing via barge on the Moreb beaches located on the West Coast of that country. He was "Mentioned in Dispatches" for distinguished service for his actions in setting up ship-to-shore VHF communications during the invasion and for installing and maintaining a technically advanced secret digital radio link from Singapore city to the town of Changi on Singapore island. He left Singapore for England in August 1946 after the war with Japan was over. After two more years as a telecommunications technician in Glasgow, Scotland he was promoted to engineer in 1948 and went to work in London, England. In 1954 he took a post in Nigeria, West Africa for two years where he single handedly, planned and built VHF radio links in the bush, including one 100 foot and two 150 foot towers. The next two years he spent in Lagos, Nigeria where he was in charge of a major workshop with some 50 Nigerian staff. His main work there was the design of telecommunications equipment, also the development and technical support for all telecommunications equipment in the country. Following this he was hired by Nigerian Railways as a senior engineer to take charge of their telecommunications network which operated over 2,500 miles of railway track covering all three major regions of the country. He had 11 expatriate staff and his Nigerian staff numbered over two hundred. In 1961 Archie was hired by the United Nations and went to Egypt for four years during which time he solved a major problem in Cairo airport where for the two previous years planes were frequently diverted to Beirut. Promotion for this work saw him working on an island on the river Nile called Zamalek where the Egyptian Government, in a consortium with the United Nations, was building a multi-million dollar international training institute. He designed the various laboratories for this school and built them using local Egyptian staff. From Egypt he was hired in 1965 by the major Canadian telecommunications company presently called Nothern Telecom. He was engaged in the company's marketing department and carried out numerous marketing activities. Transferring to RCA Canada in 1972 he continued with defining marketing strategies for that company. In 1978 he moved to Teleglobe, Canada where he went back to engineering. In this company he was deeply involved in the planning of trans-oceanic submarine cable and global satellite systems. He retired in 1987 and now lives in Montreal, Canada where he pursues his lifelong interest in spiritual matters. His first book entitled Spreading the Light: Meaningful Answers to Spiritual Questions will soon be published (mid 2004). His second book is nearing completion. This is entitled The Nature of God: The Discovery of Self.
