This is a mix of historical fact and entertainment for young readers and race fans to learn about The Greatest Spectacle in Racing -- the Indianapolis 500. The book illustrations are as authentic as possible, depicting the actual race cars and their period paints schemes, as well as many of the heroes who drove and / or built them. Readers also see the evolution of The Brickyard over time and get a sense of who the machines that race in the Indy 500 have developed over time.
