Ryan Holifield is an assistant professor in the Departmentof Geography at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Hisresearch focuses on the nexus between social justice and urbansustainability, with a particular interest in dimensions ofenvironmental justice and injustice in the process of hazardouswaste site remediation and risk assessment. Michael Porter is a doctoral candidate in the Departmentof Earth and Environmental Sciences at the Graduate Center of theCity University of New York. His research explores the discoursesof brownfields and environmental justice in the context of urbansocio-spatial change. Gordon Walker is Chair of Environment, Risk and Justicein the Geography Division, Lancaster Environment Centre atLancaster University, UK. His research focuses on the social andspatial dimensions of environmental and risk issues. He hasinvestigated patterns of various forms of environmental inequalityin the UK (air quality, flood risk, waste, green space) andexplored the meanings and geographies of environmental justice indifferent settings. Current research is focusing on the social andjustice dimensions of energy technologies and climate changeadaptation and mitigation.
