I eagerly purchased Space Siege as I was a big fan of Dungeon Siege and was expecting a similar game experience and indeed it does play similarly but with problems that make this feel like a budget game.
Played from the same viewpoint as Dungeon Siege, you explore a spacecraft in pursuit of certain goals whilst battling hordes of aliens. You find more powerful weapons on your travels and level up your characters abilities with components that you'll find in crates or the vanquished aliens have left behind or in the form of skill points that are handed out at the completion of certain goals.
So far, so good? Not really. The ships interior consists of a LOT of corridors and boringly decorated rooms. From start to finish, there simply isn't a lot of variation in the levels. The graphics are merely adequate, the weapons uninspired and in fact, I completed the game without having ever bothered to use most of them. And along the same lines, I never used most of the special skills I was given and still the game was too easy. The hordes of aliens seemed a bit samey after a while. The story wasn't particularly interesting and the only reason I kept playing was because there is a certain amount of satisfaction in blowing away waves of baddies.
There is nothing really good about this game, it is a thoroughly average title in every respect that should never have been released as full priced title in the first place.
