What happened here? This controller is hardly an advancement over the PS2 or PS1 controller. It's the same shape and size, which while OK, is not as good as the 360 or Wii controllers. When will Sony wake up?
It's added in some gimicky six-axis motion control, which is an obvious nod to the Wii remote control mechanics (although the SIXAXIS can only detect limited motion and has no pointing device).
They removed the vibration, which is a major letdown for me. Sony has stated that this is because it interferes with the motion control, but if this is the case how does the Wii remote still have vibration? The real reason is a legal issue – Sony was illegally using vibration all along in the PS2 controllers – it stole the technology from Immersion (who proceeded to sue the pants off Sony).
Sony again disappoints. When will it listen to consumers and do something right?
