Soft Skin, The (La Peau Douce)
One of Truffaut’s more neglected but essential films, The Soft Skin follows a well-known scholar (Jean Desailly) as he becomes infatuated with an airline stewardess (Françoise Dorléac) and hopelessly pursues the doomed affair.
Famously echoing Truffaut’s own life, this compelling drama is an essential follow-up to the director’s new wave films like The 400 Blows.
