Slumdog Millionaire will open your eyes and your mind to a world we rarely take any notice of – the slums of Mumbai India. It is a story of a boy's life journey – full of sadness, horror and poverty, adventure, happiness and romance. All of these experiences come down to just one important question.
Director Danny Boyle has achieved magnificence in film making. He has captured the beauty of India on camera as well as showing us the good, the bad and the ugly side of a country through the eyes of a young slumdog. The film was very real and very shocking at times. Poverty, violence, child slavery, prostitution and crime lords are just a few of the themes that Jamal deals with on his journey. The film is mostly shot in Mumbai where Jamal is brought up in the slums. The slums are the filthiest place I have ever seen. There is an amazing chase scene through the slums which shows you just how massive they really are and how dirty they are. It is amazing to think that so many people can survive in such horrible conditions.
The soundtrack and score are totally awesome. I have listened to them many times since seeing the film. There is even a dance number at the end credits which is kinda weird. I laughed for a bit, then realised that I had just seen possibly the greatest movies of my time.
10/10 I thought everyone's performance in the film was great, especially the children. I couldn't tell if they were actually Slumdogs or professional actors? Everything about this film is amazing. It looks amazing, it sounds amazing, everything that happens on screen is truly amazing and sometimes not in a good away. It is definitely a dark and sometimes evil film but it has some really positive moments which will make audiences happy. Also the suspense is incredible, especially when the film hinges on one final question. If you have seen Who Wants to be a Millionaire you will already know all about it! Slumdog Millionaire amplifies that suspense. Slumdog Millionaire has already won Golden Globe's for Best Picture/Drama, Best Director, Best Screen Play, Best Score and it now has 10 Oscar nominations and a number of Bafta nominations. I don't fully believe these award ceremonies are always correct, but I do really hope Slumdog wins something because it really is a master piece.
