Description

Do you know your adverbs from your past participles, or your pronouns from your conjunctions? Does trying to learn tenses make you tense? If French grammar leaves you dazed and confused, then what you need is Skeleton French! This wonderful new book takes the mystery out of French grammar. It shows French from your point of view, rather than from the teacher's. Grammatical terms are explained clearly and simply - nothing is taken for granted - and there are plenty of varied practice exercises to make sure that you really understand what you've learnt. And, as grammar isn't a 'watertight compartment', separated from the other skills that you need to learn a language, we've included a FREE audio CD to help you practise your pronunciation and to develop an authentic-sounding French accent. Skeleton French includes lots of lively cartoons to back up the grammar points. We hope you'll find them useful - you may even think they're amusing!

Author Biography

Claire Buet-Charlwood has been teaching French to primary, secondary and adult students for thirty years. As her pupils struggled with French grammar, she devised ways of unravelling its mysteries. Claire, who was born and bred in the French Olympic town of Albertville has, since her marriage to a British national, been a UK resident, thus doing her bit for Anglo-French relations. She is currently running grammar courses at Strathclyde University. David Mort was Head of French for over twenty years at a leading coeducational independent school in the north-west. He is co-author of the highly successful Advanced Level language courses Tout Droit!, Droit au but! and Sigue. David now divides his time between writing, following Manchester United and studying contemporary French philosophers, especially Eric Cantona.
