"Civ Rez proves to be a successful strategy game for the DS."
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Civ rev, takes you from the dawn of man up to the present day in simple yet deep turn based game play. It is essentially the same game as the console incarnations just without the 3D graphics. Yet the graphics are decent enough for a DS game and clearly display the units and cities in some style. Civ rev streamlines the previous PC civ experiences to its core elements. This makes the game clean and fast, usually complete within four hours but could run for as little as 2. There are 4 saves and the game can be saved at any time. The game features a game of the week downloadable map as well as the standard scenarios and random map. A large enough variety of civiliations are available (each with more distinct strengths than before) with 4 unique ways to win. All in all the game proves to be a fun and thoughtful game for strategy fans.

"Near perfect strategy gaming"
5 stars"

Civ Revolution for the DS follows the CIV III style of gaming – except without pollution or any of the other irritating micromanagement activities of the PC version. Sadly missing is the Civopedia so you can't read up about world wonders or unique units however for getting a dose of Civ on the go this is perfect.

Your opponents are very warlike in this version and will inevitably try to take you on both early in the game and if you start getting too close to a win situation. They will send wave after wave of attacks at you so don't forget to build good defensive units and having the odd catapult army in your frontline cities can save some rage-quit moments.

There is huge re-playability with this game working your way through the various civilisation options and difficulty levels – I've had this game for about 2 years and play it most days – in fact I don't think I've played any other game as much as this one.

Civ Rev has an excellent saving system where you can save and exit at any time – which makes it very useful if you just have 15–30 minutes of game time available.

It's not completely perfect but small niggles aside it is a very good DS game that is worth adding to your collection.
