Coventry University was pleased to host the Engineering and Product Design Education Conference 3rd-4th September 2002. The E&PDE 2002 Conference incorporated the 24th Annual Conference on Engineering Design Education under the auspices of SEED and the 9th National Conference on Product Design Education under the auspices of the Institution of Engineering Designers. The venue was The Conference Centre within the new TechnoCentre at the Coventry University Technology Park, which provides excellent accommodation for such events. This was the fourth such collaboration between these two bodies in a series of events which has a growing reputation for providing a forum for lively discussion and debate in the key area of Engineering and Product Design Education and Practice.
The conference theme was that of 1st Annual Conference on Engineering Design Education held in 1978 - 'Sharing Experience in Engineering Design' and the papers were categorized into sessions as follows: - Outputs and competencies - Design challenges - Design methodology - Projects - CADD The papers presented in these proceedings were all scrutinized and refereed by the National Advisory Group to ensure maintenance of standards and relevance to the conference theme.
