Description

Salt Sack and the Cowboy is the second in a series of cowboy poetry volumes by Chuck Murphy. The first, Christ and the Cowboy features humorous and anecdotal poetry of a spiritual nature. Salt Sack and the Cowboy represents Chuck's body of work that is not necessarily spiritual, but tells of the life of a cowboy in a way that is real, humorous, and frankly, a little salty.

Author Biography:

A few words from the author: My early childhood was on my folk's ranch. My entire human environment for the first ten years of my life consisted of Mom, Dad, Sis, the hired man of the time, and the teacher during the school year. Mom said that when I was learning to talk, I liked rhyming words like, "Cat hat" rather than "Cat run". In 1952 I married the girl that I thought was the pick of the field. There's a Cowboy saying, "If you can't trade up, don't trade." Well there weren't no "up" so I've never been through "the change of wife". She's been correcting my spelling ever since. We ranched most of our lives and retired near Red Lodge, MT. This book is simply a potpourri of stuff pulled from the file in the closet of my office, and from the file in the closet of my mind. May it bring joy to your mind and heart and may it open some files of your mind.
