Sails of Glory – SP Sirena 1793 Frigate
Sail and fight with HMS Victory, Lord Nelson’s Flagship at Trafalgar, the most famous First Rate ship-of the-line in the Royal Navy!
HMS Victory is a three-decks, 104-gun ship of the line, laid down in 1759 and launched in 1765. She is most famous as Lord Nelson's flagship at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. She was also Keppel's flagship at Ushant, Howe's flagship at Cape Spartel and Jervis's flagship at Cape St Vincent. After 1824 she served as a harbor ship. In 1922 she was moved to a dry dock at Portsmouth, England, and preserved as a museum ship. She is the world's oldest naval ship still in commission.
Three-deck First Rates were the prestige ships of the English Navy, carefully and lavishly built. Rarely commissioned in peace-time, and preserved with expensive overhauls and rebuilding, these ships served as flagships as their strength made them the strongest units of the line of battle. Each 100-gun ship had an established complement of 850 men in addition to extras assigned when used as flagships.
