Rurik is offered and accepts the throne of Novgorod but wants Princess Efanda to remain at home until he returns for her. Efanda insists on traveling with Rurik but he thinks that the journey is too dangerous. Efanda sneaked away and managed to make the turbulent journey across the sea.
