"Great Big Adventure.."
5 stars"

I really enjoy my time with Sacred 2. I had a new Pc when this came out and I have the special edition with the hi-res textures (elite pack), and it looks AMAZING. If you have a newish machine and get sick of WAW and WOW and want a fun, irreverant (with loads of tongue in cheek humour ), fantasy game that just goes on and on, with ever increasing graphic wonders, then get this game. It does get boring after a while, but so does EVERY SINGLE game I've ever played. I keep coming back. There have been many patches so far and never have my characters glitched because of this.(unlike Sacred,Plus,Gold where nearly every character glitched). there are lots of sound and control options and it took me a couple of days to figure out what was right for me. And did I mention..MAN DOES IT LOOK AND SOUND GREAT!. Also mixes in energy weapons (ty energy) to add to the usual fanfare of wands, spears, swords, magic, bows etc. I have an ATI card but if you have a new Nvidia card, they've just added Physix graphics to the game..you lucky devils. I really think the great Blizzard will have a hard time beating this, but then having Billions of dollars at their disposal, Diablo 3 could almost knock this from it's perch. (but why wait for them!)

Go Ascaron!

GET A NEW PC, GET THIS GAME.

"A good hack n slash.."
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

I have always been a bit of a fan of this genre, so I was really looking forward to Sacred 2. Graphically, the game is quite nice – models and landscapes are quite detailed. The system requirements to run this on full settings are a little high, but most should be able to enjoy this title on a moderate system. The story isnt the most compelling, but then most people dont play these games for the story – they play them for the loot and the hacking/slashing – of which there is plenty of. If I had one complaint about this game, it would be the interface.. Its just not as refined as other games of this type, and can occasionally cause a bit of frustration. Titan Quest is honestly a better choice than this, but if you've done that one, and are still waiting for Diablo 3, this game has a huge world to fill some time in..

"A good fun game"

In the world of Arcania you can choose between the two compaigns, light or dark. Follow the main quest or choose to do the side quests. I find the graphics eye dropping and the music by Blind Gaurdian fits the game's atmosphere nicely. A good solid hack and slash that will keep you occupied for some time.

"Exactly what I expected"
4 stars"

Just go the game yesterday and will say it is a very good hack and slash game. The world (no levels in this) is huge and seamless (who complains about a large and very beautiful game world?) Yes there are bugs but the patches released fix all these and even add new areas and monsters to the game. I am not bored of the game and I played it 8 hours straight yesterday and 4 this morning. I recommend to any who like hack and slash games!

"This Game Is Awesome"
5 stars"

Been playing mostly Single Player. They are fixing the online lobbies at the moment, they are combining the EU and US lobbies so we'll be able to get more people to play with :). Once you get the hang of the skills and what to level up it gets really fun! I've finished the light campaign. Took about 30 hours. I didn't really do many side quests either. And there's 6 classes to choose with Dark or Light campaign, so there's a lot of reply value. Some awesome looking items, fiery swords etc.

You can special mounts eg. big saber tootth tiger to ride on, each unique to a class.

Sweet game, fun online. :D Love it

"RPG without the magic touch"
2 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

I usually enjoy a good RPG. However I have found this game disappointing. It had nice graphics, and was reasonably fun at the start. I found this games skills system rather unique, which is nice to see attempts at new ways of doing things, although it was an complex skill system, I found it a bit minimalistic. After reading the manual I quickly decided to play as a high elf, as the description lead me to believe it was supposed to be a mage. However the choice in skills was very small, there were 3 skill classes, only 5 skills in each, and most were defensive skills or buffs. There was only an incredibly small choice in ‘spells’. Of the offensive skills, they were very basic. There were no spells that really lit up the screen with glowing awesomeness. I found the information about the skills useless at first, and through a process of trial and serious mistakes ruining my character, I learnt how it worked.

I decided to start again, with a dual wield seraphim, things immediately became incredibly easy. I quickly switched to silver difficulty as bronze was boring, and had to start the story from the beginning yet again. I found silver was no harder, I just grew levels quicker, and the monsters grew levels quicker, but still fell very quickly. This seemed to highlight some serious balancing issues.

I found the quests were incredibly boring, with no real sense that there was a purpose to any ‘story’ until I finished the game with the final cinematic which I realised what it was that I was trying to accomplish. Side quests showed an even worse balancing issue, with simplistic tasks like walking safely across a village ‘carrying’ a bucket of water a few times being rewarded with 3 very good set item armour pieces to kit out my character.

I found that the game had a few bugs on my system. Running an ATI HD 5750 with tri monitor. Although the game supported resolutions for running all screens at once, when doing so it was super zoomed, so you had no idea what was sneaking up on you. A simple text file camera setting tampering allowed zooming out, however this resulted in fog which rendered visibility worse than useless. This isn't really an issue, as I don't believe the game claimed anywhere to support these resolutions, so I stuck to a single screen.

I tried physx with an old nvidia card, I could not see any visable difference, although I noticed a significant frame rate drop.

Inside buildings and caves I often saw artifacts, and when starting the game the menu was unresponsive to the mouse, so I had to alt-tab out, then restore in order to be able to play the game.

I didn't find that there was any re-playability factor in this game, starting again at the beginning when changing difficulty was tedious enough.

"So called diablo clone "
3 stars"

Play at your own risk, IT gets boring fast the levels are far to big and has random WTF moments and I've played the game for 2 days and wanting to return it to the shop.. IF you want hack and slash gameplay go play The Witcher (even thou the updates on that is massive!)

"Ati video card owners beware-"
1 stars"

The game will not start at all for me under Win XP. Installed out of the box it did run under Windows 7, but crashed after about 30 minutes every time, locking up my computer twice.

Reading the Ascaron forums it seems that all the people who have the same problem I do seem to have ATI video cards in common. Patching the version 2.11 that's on the disk to 2.40 has had the effect that it will now not start up in either operating system at all. Not good.

Ok, so my gameplay experience is very limited, maybe 90 minutes. The game is certainly beautiful, but I found a couple of things to seriously gripe about: you're unsighted way too often. Trees get in the way and you can't see what's around you and in particular in caves the walls are constantly in the way obscuring things and critters and you can't see to target enemies that are attacking you, causing delays and giving them ‘free hits’ on you. I found myself constantly having to rotate the screen in order to try to deal with this – this was handled much better in Sacred 1 Gold & Underworld in my opinion, both of which I have played extensively.

"Avoid."
1 stars"

Usually I play games for a week if not a month to get a real opinion, games like Assassin's Creed, initial hype of being an assassin wears off and the game gets repetitive, I don't mind it, maybe I over did it with just that game, but this game, I started off as a Guardian and the first character you see in the starting FMV when you are uncovered in a ruin, the voice actor litterally speaks the lines, word by word as if its the first time hes seen it, after that I played it for 5 more minutes, haven't touched it for since (Well I tried the other characters but got bored) and this was the Special Edition, I own Sacred Gold, alot online, there was ALOT of hackers but they weren't that annoying so thought it might be OK but now I'm never trusting Ascaron just like Ubisoft, at first they were hard to avoid now their games are crap.

"Game won't work on Windows 7"

I loved this game and bought it when I saw it! But it won't work on Windows 7, no matter how many fixes I try from the internets.

Haven't played a lot of it but it's a big improvement from the original Sacred I've played and loved, hopefully it keeps being as good

"Not bad, could have been better."

Purchased on Mighty Ape

I loved the first Sacred game.

The second one- Not so much.

It's definitely playable – it's just much less addictive.

Pathfinding is an issue – so easy to get trapped behind shrubbery. The story is a lot less interesting (I can't actually remember what the plot of Sacred 2 is about – but I can for the first game).

I did love the addition to the Mounts mechanic – having special mounts for each race was great.

It seemed to have a lot of the same elements as the first – I'm not sure why I found it less compelling, I only know that I did.

Me and my partner just recently each got a copy of this and all I can say is that it is brilliant! As soon as I get home I crave to play it! I think They have done well with this sacred and the only thing I have to say is that gets annoying is that there are so many quests and a huge map! But in a way that means the game will last longer!

Can't wait for Sacred 3! But I hope they don't go too over-bored with it!

"Awesome game!"
5 stars"

I am a RPG games veteran, I have played many over the years. After playing and finishing Diablo III, because I just got bored with grinding the same old thing… I wanted to play something, I already had Sacred 2 in storage, but had this idea that it was a bad game, anyway I ended up installing in my PC anyway, at first it gave me many problems like BSDs, CTD errors but with patience and perseverance I somehow fixed the game where now it runs stable and it is just EPIC. THIS GAME ROCKS! i can't believe that all these years I overlooked this gem of a game, it is funny, has lots of quests, and it looks awesome on my rig with all settings on high. So if you haven't tried this game give it a go, you'll have to tweak it to run stable (read the main forum technical posts) and also installing the official latest patches AND the unofficial patch helps as well. So give it a try, great game, and it steamrolls Diablo III even after all these years!

"World of Warcraft has competition"
5 stars"

An extremely good game. While I have yet to finish it I love how the game starts off right away. While the start point is similar each time all the characters have an engaging storyline no matter how you choose to play.

Only slight draw back is how long any RPG is but the almost never ending blood bathing more than makes up for it. It can be difficult at times but the non linear story makes it a way to kill time killing and either destroy everything or save it. Only three words will ever sum up the awesome combat: QUEST HUNT KILL!!!!

Fun to an extent. Unfortunately it doesnt have the same feel of its predecessor :/ I kinda got bored fairly quickly due to endless grinding.

I have only played it for about four hours and I totally love it!

This is a game that could well be played for months without stopping. The graphics are great, your character will comment every now and then when an enemy dies or during combat. And even tell you when you're close to your quest objective! There are some physics involved too, when an enemy dies they submit to gravity and roll down hills!

The combat reminds me of Dungeon Siege 2, where you must hold down the mouse button to keep hitting. This is not a bad thing though, since you can move your mouse around after you've clicked to get ready to attack the next target without changing targets in the process.

The quests are fun, the best comparison is World of Warcraft ( In Burning Crusade when the classes lacked firepower at the lower levels ) and other online RPG games. You character will also comment when you receive and complete quests.

The game allows for two difficulties which can be modified in game. Bronze: Easy Silver: Normal ( Monsters seem to scale up with you in Silver ) When playing in single player there will be a tab you can open on the left of the screen. It will show a bar that will modify the difficulty. This is similar to a command in Diablo 2. For instance, setting it to two players will increase the strength of the monsters, as well as the loot and xp rewards for killing them as if there were two players in the game. Setting it to three players will make it even harder with even better rewards.

The items are all different, like in Diablo 2, Dungeon Siege, and some other RPGs. Every item will be different, the chance that you will find two identical items is very slim!

Character development is good, you spend one stat point every time you level up, and get a point to spend into additional stats which allow you to use stronger weapons/armor, enhance your spells and even dual wield!

The tall grass also moves when something runs through it!

You must play this game, and you must love every minute of it!

I am impresed with the concept of mighty ape retaining funds until purchase is complete. Great safe guard.

"Not what I expected"

Sacred 2 is a good game, it lives up past its predecessor and the graphics are great. However the gameplay has alot to be desired with the same foes spawning everywhere you go all the time it takes the thrill after you have killed your first 300 mosters in your first 5 minutes.

"Get it!!! Great to hold you over till Diablo III is released"

The map is huge! Video settings took a bit of tweaking; able to have detailed landscape close up, if I scroll out it looks like a detailed bubble is shadowing me.

  • Pretty dated AMD Dual Core 3800, raid drives, Nvidia 9750gt-512.

There is more eye candy if you have a Nvidia Physx card; entry level is the 9600gt. If you have a SLI setup you can use the 9600gt to handle just the Physx processing and your other card for the rest – I believe you need to download the Physx patch. A lot of fun and not too easy.

Have fun!

so much better in so many ways from the earlier version sacred gold and plus. the graphics and complexity of the whole game has gone up many levels. the world is practically limitless, and being able to take it online an play with others makes it an all round awesome improvement. and weeks …months…worth of entertainment. i plan to be in ancaria for a while. see you there! :)

"Huge game but unpolished"
3 stars"

If you are looking for a game like Diablo II to pass the time i suggest giving this a try. The graphics are still great in 2010 and the world is absolutely huge, however it has some drawbacks:

  • Terrible voice acting and sound effects
  • Unsatisfying skills
  • No real storyline
  • Repetitive quests
  • Boring loot
  • Clumsy interface

In hindsight it does have some unique features that make it desirable like the skill-up system which works on the basis that you can just ‘find’ skill points in the world to make your character stronger, as well as items that change the appearance of your hero.

This game may suffice for some as they pass the time waiting for Diablo III, but it did not for me. I recommend Torchlight over this.

"Sacred 2 Fallen angel was great"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

If your looking for a fun RPG that you can play offline, then Sacred 2: Fallen angel is your game. One thing I came across in this game is that its Main Quest line is small, so if you only did the Main Quest your going be like only level 27–37 (Level cap 200, depends on how much Grinding Mobs you do at the end of the game). But their are like 6000's Side Quests. All and all it's a very good game if your an RPG fan.
