I have a feeling that L.O.G will be a band that you will either love or hate…I like a few of the songs on this album…the first three are awesome and track 10: ‘More Time To Kill’ is great but the rest are average.

I think it has to do with Randy's vocals…in short he sounds like a cross between a bear and the devil. Whilst this works on some songs it quickly becomes apparent that his voice is one dimensional. There is no range. He really should try and add some melody to the mix. The drumming and guitars sound similar on every track and I was left feeling disappointed.

Stick with bands like ‘All That Remains’ ‘Trivium’ and the unbeatable ‘Mastodon’ for Metal that is actually good.

Description

The cult metal band's third major label album is a significant step forward in style and execution, with singer Randy Blythe's forceful vocals at their most guttural and drummer Chris Adler expertly steering the band through a dizzying variety of complex arrangements. The album's opener, "Walk With Me in Hell" sets the stage for a collection of dark, hyper-energized tracks, with the violent, rhythmically complex "Redneck" a particular highlight.

What the critics say...

Rolling Stone (p.133) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "[F]ull of open-string chugging, relentlessly forceful drumming and Randy Blythe's bear-in-a-trap roar."
Spin (p.103) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "Mark Morton and Willie Adler's dual guitars lock up furiously....Adler's brother Chris is a wonder, tapping out blast after staggeringly fast double kick-drum blast."
Entertainment Weekly (p.81) - "[With] frenetic and intricate tracks....[and] D. Randall Blythe's enraged, rottweiler-like vocals." -- Grade: B
CMJ (p.26) - "This quintet erects an impenetrable wall of metal with the Dimebag Darrell-influenced riffs of Mark Morton and Willie Adler..."
Kerrang (Magazine) (p.68) - Ranked #9 in Kerrang's "20 Greatest Albums of 2006" -- "Classic metal, in every sense."
