"Buggy but the mods make up for it"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

This is a game that promised a lot and delivered a little. However it is still a fantastic game that is worth collecting as the community created content brings us the game we had all hoped for.

The graphics are fantastic although you will need a fairly high end system to really appreciate them. The gameplay is non-linear for the most part meaning you can tackle an objective any way you desire. Several different ends to the story give the game some replayability.

Check out the official forums to find mods that will change the way game is played and deliver a much more enjoyable experience in the zone.

"wonderful FPS"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

The best FPS since far cry and HL2,pretty good hardware scaling, incredible weather and anomally effects, very, very atmospheric and multi dimensional for a fps. Can be quite hard at certain points due to the lack of accuracy and effectiveness of most weapons, but is definitely my fps pick for the last 2 or 3 years and also has a fair amount of replayability.

"Good.. but not great"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is … good… but far from great. The graphics already feel a bit dated, although the environmental effects are very nice. It's also rather difficult, even on the easiest setting. Maybe it'll get better when I get better gear, but the first gun you get, you might as well be throwing rocks for all the accuracy it has and damage it does. And there seems to be endless rushes of bad guys. I've decided it's pointless trying to keep all the guns and ammo you find because they weigh you down too much, and there's so much stuff dropped, you don't really need money for anything (not yet anyway). It's slightly buggy, but not really enough to complain about. Other than that… yeah, it's good. I haven't really explored much, just following the main story line, but it does show a lot of promise.

"Startup crash - solution" Purchased on Mighty Ape

If you find the game displays the splash screen and then dies without a message, (or with the patch applied, displays the splash screen then dies with a bug crash message), and you have sigmatel onboard audio, try renaming c:\windows\ct_oal.dll to something else and restarting.

"Very Very Cool"

Graphics is cool that I just walk around the map to see how good everything looked. AI is done very well to the best so far.
