Excerpt from Rolls of Membership of the New England Historic Genealogical Society: Corrected to July 1, 1898 Although the lists were carefully copied by Mr. Frederic Wil lard Parke, it was necessary for me to devote some forty hours, with considerable volunteer assistance, to the tedious labor of verifying these lists by comparing them with the chronological records. An equal amount of time was expended in ascertaining that the names and residences of the members were correctly written, but the result has proved that more time was requisite to perfect the Rolls, especially in the matter of academic degrees, and the proceedings contain a number of misprints that ought not to have occurred.
