An Officer and a Gentleman:
Zack Mayo (Richard Gere) is a young man who has signed up for Navy Flight School. He is a Navy b brat who has a bad attitude problem. Sgt. Foley is there to train and evaluate him and will clearly find Zack wanting. Zack meets Paula (Debra Winger), a girl who has little beyond family, and must decide what it is he wants to do with his life, the girl or his job.
Richard Gere is Julian Kay, a slick emotionally and spiritually deprived L.A. hustler in AMERICAN GIGOLO. While servicing an upscale clientele in the Hollywood area, he becomes involved with a rich senator's wife (Lauren Hutton), their relationship extending beyond Julian's normal encounters. Little does he know he is about to be framed for murder, forcing him to rely on alibis from Madame Anne (Nina Van Pallandt), a crooked pimp (Bill Duke), or the senator's wife herself.
Guilty? Innocent? Those questions aren't for high powered Chicago attorney Martin Vail to decide. His job is to defend - especially if a case will put his name in the headlines and further his career. When Vail hears that a penniless altar boy is accused of murdering the local archbishop, he snaps up the case, eager for the media spotlight. Little does he know that it will uncover a viper's nest of corruption, pit him against a prosecutor who's his ex-lover and test all his skill, judgment and even his win-at-any-cost attitude.
