"An exciting Star Wars tale."

This book picks up two years after the events of the first Knights of the Old Republic game (and three years before the events of the second game) as the Jedi hero Revan begins to remember more and more of his life before his memories were lost. His journey takes him beyond the edge of Republic space into a world where a powerful and tyrannical evil awaits, an evil that has touched him before. This book fills in the gap nicely between the old KOTOR games and the more recent Old Republic MMO game.

"Interesting but ultimately unsatisfying"

The story of Revan – from powerful Jedi to devastating Sith back to redeemed Jedi – is a fascinating one which desperately needs a cohesive book to tie the story together. At the moment, you can only get the story by playing a game, Knights of the Old Republic. This book picks up after Revan / Darth Revan has been turned back to the light side; he is now married to fellow Light / Dark / Light convert Bastila Shan. The story I was hoping for in this book is all in the past, and referred to only in passing. It seems like an attempt to complete Revan’s story, while leveraging it into a new book series. As such, it was quite disappointing; it would be great to have a trilogy of books covering Revan’s back story and his path from light to dark and back. Note that hardly any of Revan’s story at the moment is canon but with a new Knights of the Old Republic game coming out in February who knows, maybe we could finally get a companion series of books? Fingers crossed.

"Great Book with a dark story"

Amazing book with a stunning story. Its just such a shame that its legends and not canon. It is injustice to the character of Revan! Regardless I recommend this highly for any fans of the Pre-Movie Lore

Description

There's something out there: a juggernaut of evil bearing down to crush the Republic- unless one lone Jedi, shunned and reviled, can stop it. Hero, traitor, conqueror, villain, savior-the man called Revan has been all of these. He left Coruscant a Jedi, on a mission to defeat the Mandalorians. He returned a Sith disciple, bent on destroying the Republic. The Jedi Council gave Revan his life back, but the price of redemption was the loss of his memories. All that's left are nightmares-and deep, abiding fear. What happened beyond the Outer Rim that Revan can't quite remember or entirely forget? One thing he's certain of: Something dark is plotting to destroy the very existence of the Republic. With no idea how to identify the threat, let alone stop it, Revan may be doomed to fail. For he's never faced a more powerful and diabolic enemy. But only death can stop him from trying. "An excellent book . . . [Karpyshyn] really draws the reader in."-Eucantina "Full of adventure, danger, and revelations."-TheForce.Net
