We got this for Christmas. Organised in chapters by different types of repurposing which makes it easy to understand. Heaps of houses and ideas with text that contains useful information. It’s really substantial and very good value for money. I totally recommend it. Only downside is it won’t lay flat (but that’s probably to keep the price down) and the eco-paper it’s printed on isnt as bright as normal. But it’s a great book ---

Description

An on-trend home design book, featuring an inspiring array of homes that have made good use of recycled and upcycled materials, structures, spaces and furnishings. Included in the mix are industrial and farm buildings that have been converted for living and furnished appropriately with vintage and repurposed industrial fittings. The book features 20 homes located throughout the country that feature a variety of clever solutions and design styles. There is everything from repurposed container homes to army barracks, farm utility buildings, churches and urban spaces finished with upcycled and repurposed furnishings. The homes are in Lyttelton, Auckland, Wellington, Mahurangi, Cambridge, Cromwell, Christchurch, Queenstown, Hawke's Bay, Coromandel and Rangiora.

Author Biography

Catherine Foster is a freelance writer with a specific interest in home design. She has been a regular contributor of articles to leading New Zealand home magazines, including Your Home & Garden, HOME New Zealand and NZ House and Garden. Catherine is very concerned about the growing unaffordability of housing in New Zealand's larger cities. With her belief in consuming the finite resources of Planet Earth responsibly, she sees the harnessing of architectural design principles to build smaller and smarter homes as an obvious step in the right direction.
