On the other hand, the oculist finds his range of view enlarged and is made to realize in a more adequate degree, that local disease may depend upon and be the signal of a lesion of some re mote organ or of a constitutional affection. He is made to appreciate the need of wide observation of symptoms, and-is kept in touch with the pathology and therapeutics of medicine at large.
