Description

The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child affirms education rights that include the rights for all children to expression and to information, and the right to learn about the world. This book focuses on children's rights and responsibilities as global citizens and what teachers can do to present and promote them in their classrooms. It combines curriculum analysis with practical experience. Much of the focus is on the ways children are learning from and with others, across frontiers of nation state, language and culture. "Regardless of Frontiers": takes a holistic view of global learning in schools, moving beyond the usual division into subject requirements; shows how the everyday lives of children can become a more visible and vocal source for learning; and, provides guidance for teachers and teachers in training on relevant learning resources and criteria for evaluating how effectively they present children's lives. The book will be invaluable for all those concerned to teach children about their rights, whether in the classroom, home or community.
