Description

This is a collection of 11 short stories in the gothic-fantastic genre by seven Russian writers mostly in the decade following the 1917 revolution.

Author Biography:

V. Bryusov (1873-1924) was a leading Symbolist writer. M. Bulgakov (1891 - 1940) is the well-known author of "The Master and Margarita" and other fiction and plays. A. Grin (1880 - 1932) wrote novels and stories. Z. Krzhizhanovsky (1887 - 1950) wrote numerous fantastic stories, most only recently discovered. A. Chayanov (1888 - 1937) pioneered the Gothic-fantastic genre in Russia. G. Peskov (1895 - 1977) and P. Perov (1886 - ?) were emigres.
