Author Biography:

MARIKO WATANABE is Research Fellow at the Institute of Developing Economies (IDE-JETRO), Japan. His research interests include financial issues in development and transition economies and reform, and he has taught on development economics and finance at the Universities of Musashi and Chiba. He has written many articles featured in edited collections and journals on these subjects.
