Description

Ganesan charts the philosophy underpinning Singapore's foreign policy output and the institutions responsible for it, and examines the importance of economic and defence diplomacy that are central to it. He pays particular attention to the two most important regional bilateral relationships - with Indonesia and Malaysia - and how Singapore's relations with its immediate neighbours have influenced its foreign policy.

Author Biography:

Narayanan Ganesan is associate professor at the Hiroshima Peace Institute in Japan. He has taught and published widely in Southeast Asian politics and foreign policy, and was previously at the department of political science at the National University of Singapore.
