Description

Teenage "joy-riders" mow down a young man on his way home after a night out with his mates. As he fights for his life in hospital, the police struggle to find the culprits. Expert tracker dog, PD Q, follows a scent from the abandoned car, but it leads to a dead-end. Where is the driver of the stolen vehicle? Could this incident be the culmination of a sequence of escalating attacks on participants in Oxford's Pride Parade? DCI Jonah Porter steps in to find out.

Author Biography:

The author of novels described by a reviewer as "mystery for thinking people", Judy Ford graduated from the University of Oxford in 1979 with a degree in Mathematics. She worked in industry, academia and as a Research Manager in the NHS. Her time with the Northwest Stroke Research Network gave her insight into the world of disability, which she uses in the portrayal of her disabled detective DCI Jonah Porter. She is a member of the Chester Diocese "Disability Forum" which aims to promote accessibility for disabled people across the diocese. Judy is a lifelong Methodist and is a Methodist Local Preacher within the Chester and Delamare Forest Circuit. She is also a member of the parish church in the small Cheshire village where she lives. She is PCC Secretary and fulfils a number of other roles in the church. Judy began writing fiction during a period between jobs. She published her first novel, "Changing Scenes of Life", in 2015. So far, she has published twelve novels, each featuring the eccentric Liverpudlian academic, Bernie Fazakerley, and her friends from the Police Service. She has also written a book of short stories, starring Bernie's long-suffering husband DI Peter Johns. In her writing, Judy aims to give readers food for thought, challenging them not only to work out "who dunnit?" but also to consider a range of real-life issues, such as disability, inter-racial marriage, changes of religious allegiance and bereavement.
