Queen Of The Desert
A true story of the life of British explorer and adventurer, Gertrude Bell,
Queen Of The Desert chronicles her journeys of love and loss in the Middle East
during the early 20th century.
A curious and adventurous young woman eager to explore the world outside of
England, Gertrude Bell goes to the British embassy in Tehran where she quickly
falls in love with a secretary of the embassy, Henry Cadogan. This sparks the
beginning of a life-long adventure among the beautiful but misunderstood peoples
and cultures of the Middle East. Along the way, her path intersects with
archaeologist T.E. Lawrence also known as Lawrence of Arabia, and Major Charles
Doughty-Wylie, the British Consul General in the Ottoman Empire.
Queen Of The Desert Reviews
“The main selling point in “Urge” is the scenes of our doped-up
heroes enjoying the freedom to be themselves. They sleep with whomever they
like, say all the terrible things to their friends that they’ve been
repressing for years and succumb to every violent thought that enters their
heads.” – L.A Times
“…perfectly competently made…” – FILMINK
“It is grown-up, respectable and historical, perfectly competently
made, lots of accents and period dressing-up” – The Guardian
“There are some beautiful shots of desert landscapes, plenty of
scene-stealing work from the camels, and, early on, some very picturesque shots
of the British countryside.” – Independent UK
