Psycho II
In Richard Franklin's ‘Psycho 2’ (1983), ex-motel owner Norman Bates (Perkins reprising the role) has spent most of his adult life in a secure prison, following the murders he committed some 20 years before. Judged sane by a psychiatric report, Norman is released and returns to his gothic family home. However, when he takes in a young, female lodger, the old demons seem about to resurface.
Critic Reviews:
- " Franklin's consummate handling of suspense, black humour and several paradigm-shifting twists mak[e] this a worthy sequel to the original, and a convincing evocation of the old master's ghost. " – Anton Bitel
- " Scary and fun, it's as worthy a sequel as one might reasonably expect. " – Geoff Andrew
- " That it's about as chilly a movie as ever delighted the mass market is beside the point, in view of its exuberantly macabre craftsmanship. " – Vincent Canby
