Imagine you are the most powerful superhero in the world. Anyone who would stand in your way would be stopped dead in his tracks. Your power would inspire fear and awe to the masses as you walk around the streets of metropolis. Now multiply that tenfold and you got some idea of how Prototype is going to play out.

You're Alex Mercer, and something has happened to you. You wake up in a morgue not knowing quite what happened, but suddenly you're able to jump, sprint, and hit with tremendous superhuman ability that just gets more powerful. It's lucky you've got these super powers, because you're taking on the whole Manhattan to find out who's responsible for this.

Like Spider-Man 2 and Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, you're a superhero let loose in a sandbox city. You can go anywhere you want, do anything you please, causing utter chaos in your wake. The main missions are fun, and surprisingly the story holds up rather well amidst the chaos. The side missions are a great distraction, helping you become stronger and more powerful.

It may not be the best game ever made, but it's certainly the most fun game I have ever played. Top marks.

This game will blow your mind. From the moment i turned on the console on and saw the intro video I knew this game was the game to get. With super human powers that get better and better as you go on from upgrading them, it seems that this game could have nothing wrong with it. But you will find sometimes that it gets a bit repetitive and because there is so much action going on you cant even see were you are. But even with those negatives it is still worth getting because you can never get over cuting people in half with your own hands =]

The opening cutscene and the following introduction to the gameplay of this game will astound you. It's literally breathtaking! Past forays into the superhero genre (which this is a first cousin to) have tended to kick down the fourth wall with a clunky, complicated control mechanism that is uglier than Yvonne from Shortland Street. In Prototype, you're immediately floored by the fluid, gratifying control mechanism that has you running faster than the Six Million Dollar Man, scaling vertical walls more nimbly than Spiderman, and reducing enemies to mincemeat a la Audrey II with a severe post-doob case of the munchies. I crap you not. If you shell out for this game, pop it in the console, and do not immediately love it and claim it's the best game of the year, may visions of Yvonne naked haunt me nightly and cause me to gouge out my own eyes with a plastic KFC teaspoon.
