What red blooded woman could resist a film that has muscled eye candy clad in leather and carrying not one but two swords??
This is not an academy award winning film, if you are wanting something serious, deep and thought provoking you will be disappointed – it's based on a game for goodness sake. So let's forget about “pacing issues” and “plot depth” and enjoy it for what it is – escapism.
Jerry Bruckheimer gives us a hero who is capable of saving the day while delivering some witty oneliners and protecting the maiden – who can save herself and sometimes the hero too. There is plenty of swashbuckling sword fights, really bad baddies, action packed chases and escapes and barely detectable cgi scenery. Perhaps a little more romance next time.
The only truely corny moment is the beginning scene which is so obviously pilfered from Disney's Aladdin. However this just reminds you that the film you are watching doesn't take itself too seriously.
Other reviewers describe this as a fun family film, which I agree with, but note that the M rating does hold water as there are some scenes that even my 9 year old found scary.
I did enjoy this movie and have already watched it twice.
