Description

This book is written by the world's foremost authority on driving Porsche cars to their limits, and offers readers the latest information on making the most of recent Porches models and technology. Vic Elford shares his winning insights into the ride control systems, new tire compounds, Tiptronic and Direct-Shift Gearbox transmissions that have transformed the driving experience, and the challenges of driving a Porsche. As he discusses recent models - ranging from the new generations of the 911 to the whole-cloth inventions of the Boxter,Cayenne, Cayman S and Carrera GT - modern images and historic photographs take the reader through Porsche's history and evolving technology. Written for both road drivers and racers, this is an invaluable asset for any Porsche driver and will quickly become a popular best-selling title.

Author Biography

Born and raised in England, Vic Elford was one of the drivers who put Porsche on the racing map. He was the first to win the Monte Carlo rally in a Porsche, then, a week later, won the 24-Hour sports car race at Daytona. He raced Porsche 910s and 917s in both the Can Am and Trans Am series (they changed the rules in both series because he and his Porsches won too often), plus a slew of other marques in Formula 1, Indy and even stock car racing. He's still winning vintage car races today. If anyone understands how to apply high-performance driving skills to Porsches, it's Quick Vic. Elford resides in Plantation, Florida.
