Having finally reached Mount Silver, Ash and friends stop momentarily when they discover a lost Unown on their path. From the start, Larvitar is particularly drawn to this Mystical Pokémon, which is said to be able to communicate telepathically. Spotting these two rare Pokémon together, Team Rocket decides to kidnap both of them. When this Unown is attacked, however, a defensive instinct leads it to teleport itself into another dimension. Unfortunately, Ash and friends are also caught up in this interdimensional escape. Will they ever find their way back to the world that they call home?
Mother of All Battles:
After many days of travel, Ash and friends finally reach the area where their Larvitar was born. They soon encounter a Tyrannitar that they recognize from Larvitar's visions to be its mother. Unfortunately, this Tyrannitar mistakes them for the poachers that had stolen her child. Our heroes struggle to convince the mother Tyrannitar of their good intentions, but to no avail. Things only get worse when the actual poachers arrive, intent on capturing not only the child, but its mother as well.
POP GOES THE SNEASAL: As Ash and friends move on toward the Silver Conference, they happen to pass the small town that is home to the Ho-oh Shrine. This shrine holds a sacred flame that has burned there for ages, and that is used to light the opening torch at the Silver Conference. As our heroes approach the shrine, they are met by numerous trainers carrying injured Pokémon in their arms. They soon learn that a wild Sneasel has made its home in the shrine from which this flame is taken. In order for the flame to be carried to that Silver Conference, someone will have to defeat this Pokémon, which has already proven its mettle by defeating a number of trainers.
A Claim to Fame:
Ash has no sooner completed registration for the Silver Conference when he meets up with his long-time rival, Gary. Along with the usual barrage of insults, Gary vows that this time he will defeat Ash and reign victorious in the tournament. Ash is just as determined to find victory himself, but must put Gary out of his mind as he faces another trainer in a qualifying match. In a one-on-one battle, Ash sets Pikachu against this trainer’s Furret. After a rough start, Ash turns the battle around and wins his first match, getting off to a good start. Adding an even more positive highlight to the opening of the competition, when an unexpected injury puts the torch runner out of commission, Ash ends up carrying the torch into the opening ceremonies.
