It might only be one country, but Brazil offers a host of different cultures, as Merrilees discovers. She starts her journey in the Afro-influenced coastal city of Salvador, capital of the state of Bahia. Here she meets Da Da, a famous restauranteur and TV Chef who learned the art of Bahian cookery while living in the Favelas. Together they cook a spiny lobster and fish Moqueca. Merrilees then paddles up the river Amazon and journey’s through the Rainforest in search of Brazil Nuts, bizarre fruits, tapioca pancakes and exotic barbecued fish. Merrilees then heads south to Recife in the Pernambco state where you will find Brazil’s answer to Rum. Further south in Porto Allegre Merrilees visits the Gauchos who tend Brazils famous beef cattle and cookes them Waggoners Rice. She ends her Brazillian experience with beach food and the national Saturday dish, Feijoada.Special Features:
