"Definitely worth it!"
5 stars"

We recently purchased of a 46" LCD and PS3 (for Blu-Ray video playback). Was looking for a nice HD video and came across this. I was a bit sceptical at first, but the good reviews convinced me to give this a shot. I am very pleased. The HD quality of this series is amazing. Stunning pictures and suround sound. You will not be disappointed. Definately worth it!

"Mind Blowing !"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Truly stunning, I believe this was the first BBC series broadcast in full HD and it caused a sensation in Europe and the US when it was shown. If anyone has just bought a full HD TV then this Bluray set will knock your socks off. When we first viewed the opnening sequences we almost couldn't believe what we were seeing. Imagine flying like a bird through huge rocky outposts and diving down the worlds largest waterfall. Words cannot do this justice you have to see it.

"Must have in your collection"
5 stars"

Well I got this set from mum for Christmas as a last request of a present and I have to say it ended up being my best present. This is my first Blue-ray DVD for my new PS3 and LCD and it surpasses anything the shops can show. From the start you are absorbed into a journey of planet earth and everything in it, a bit like a movie that lasts for 665 minutes !!! much better value than buying 3 DVD's, some of the camera work seems almost impossible and the high res shots will have you looking around the screen like you are looking out a window. In my view, this is a must have blue-ray to have in your collection (as blue ray is already the winner of the HD war) an awesome set!!!!

"One amazing documentary"
5 stars"

Seven continents . Five years. A $25 million budget. A total run time of 530 minutes. ‘Planet Earth’ is an undertaking so epic and idealistic in intent that it is called natures Titanic. Film makers spent hours even days attempting to document a single ,indelible moment and the pay off is extraordinary. How some of these sights were even able to be captured by man is mind boggling. After watching the whole thing, I already want to watch it again.

ALL adults will love this film and find it truly amazing and at a $100 you'll find it suddenly affordable after watching it.

"must buy !"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

this is certainly a must buy for any blu ray owner. showcases how truly beautiful our planet is (and makes you realise how it could be gone due to the damage we are causing daily).

there is one issue which i was not happy about, even though this is the bluray version with superior visuals over the DVD edition, for some strange reason there are less features on the blu ray edition. such as the sneak peek of another bbc series which i forget the name of (think it focusses on our impact on teh earth)

overall, go out and buy this !!

"Stunning. Breath-Taking. Beautiful."
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

If there was any doubt that HD was worth the money, PLANET EARTH lays the question to rest.

This series is, without question, the most breath-taking, exquisitely beautiful and stunningly filmed series ever produced. Five years in the making, $25 million in production, 2,000 days of patient, timeless, extraordinary shots of nature at her most intense.

The breadth of the series is the planet. The pace is measured in the torrential downfall of rushing waters or beats of a hummingbird's wings or in the patient stillness of a snow leopard stalking her prey. The depths lie far beneath the surface in hidden crystal caves of Mexico. The heights are from outer space – we see our earth, as well as ourselves, in ways we have never dreamed possible.

Truly, the Creator's majesty is manifested in the tiniest details of creation. Nowhere is it more beautifully and astonishingly depicted as in PLANET EARTH.

"Great excuse to go Hi-Def"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

EVERY disc in this set is simply superb. Anyone interested in nature films must add this to their collection.

From the open plains of Africa to the suffocating depths of the ocean, Sir David Attenborough will lead you through an extraordinary, emotional, and thought provoking series where one might gain a sense of guardianship for our home – Plant Earth.

The series was shown on TV one some time ago but you can not beat it in Hi-Definition. The picture clarity is amazing and this set alone is almost worth upgrading your tired, old, flickering TV set. Do not watch this on standard definition as it will not do it cinematic justice. If you do not have a blu-ray player, or a DVD player with HDMI (should you want the DVD version), buy one. Now.

"Only want one Blu-ray? Make it this one!"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

What an impressive and awe-inspiring documentary from the BBC. Filmed in high definition it really does offer a showcase for what Blu-ray can do. If you have a decent AV setup, this will become not only a wonderful title for your family but also as a demo disk to show-off your hardware!

Video quality is magnificent and although there are a handful of scenes that are not in hi-def they are still wonderful to watch and just go to make the true HD parts even more amazing.

A true must-have title and a must-buy!

"A true investment!"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Bought the Sony Bravia 46" LCD TV, took advantage of the $99 PSP3 and then discovered that local DVD rental outlet does not have any blu-ray DVDs! After reading reviews for Planet Earth here decided it was worth a look. I have watched half of the first disc and it is stunning! Really recommend to anyone to start or add to their blu-ray collection.

"High Definition at its best!"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Definitely a must get! Don't think twice. Planet Earth showcases unbelievable footage from all over the globe that will blow you away. Forget the DVD version, with an HD TV and Blu Ray player, Blu Ray is the only way you should see this. 10/10 in my opinion, enjoy.

"Beautiful; the world like you've never seen it before"

Absolutely beautiful – stunning imagery of places and animals that you've never even heard of.

"..........WOW"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

beautiful scenes and amazing footage. Looks simply vibrant on the blu-ray (well worth the extra cost). The best part is that it is broken up into episodes so you dont feel obliged to watch start to finish and you can stop and appreciate each category for what it is. Sir David does an exceptional job as always and maintains his status as the King of doco presentations. I have watched it through a couple of times since buying it and it still didnt fail to impress so what are you waiting for?

"Amazing!"
5 stars"

Great view of the real struggle mother nature has every day, makes our lives look pretty sad, forget the mortgage, forget the new car, look at natures true story, amazing footage!!!

"Beautiful collection - with one small technical fault."
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

We have been glued to the television set watching this beautiful collection since it arrived. The images are mostly crystal clear (some night shots lose definition) and the storyboard is superb. In the 3rd Episode (Fresh Water) there is a fault with the filming (NOT your player!!!) causing a flicker every 3/4 of a second in some scenes – referred to in this comment made shortly after release:

“Many of the shots on the Freshwater episode were shot using the "heligimble” camera. During filming for this episode the radio in the helicopter interfered with the onboard recorder. This was not realised until the film crew returned to base and had no opportunity to retake. The shots had to be specially cleaned up, but however some RF interference was still evident in the source material."

Sir David Attenborough's voice remains as mesmorising as the images and, while we bought it for the high-definition scenery, the wildlife shots are spectacular and selected carefully so that this is not just “another wildlife series”. The “first” images of a snow leopard caring for a cub in the wild – extremely rare animals and endangered animals fimmled in the wild – and who could not smile at a swimming baby elephant as it feels water around its body for the first time.

We are getting every cent worth of pleasure out of this series – it is the best Blu-ray purchase we've made to date.

"A must watch"

One of the best documentaries i have seen. It is stunning in high definition, the scenery, mountains and everything else is breathtaking.

"Stunningly executed"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

I'm not a fan of nature documentaries in general, so only picked this up on the back of the glowing reviews it was receiving. I'm now glad for the review feature on this site, as I would have been missing out otherwise.

The camerawork is phenomenal, with sweeping aerial shots being the big highlight. It also showcases Blu-ray very nicely, as these shots look more like highly detailed photographs. The wildlife shots on the ground certainly don't let the side down either.

The price is fairly high, but if you have the time to watch all the content you will certainly get value for money here. Not charging a premium for Blu-ray is commendable also.

This is definitely the best HD eyecandy I have seen so far, and a no-brainer for anyone who already enjoys this type of programming.
