Pick Picknic is a light family strategy and guessing game in the Zoch Chickens series. The game is for 2–6 players and takes about 20 minutes. Adults and kids as young as 5 can play together on a fairly even playing field and all have fun.
The small box comes with 6 coloured “chicken yard” boards, a bag of 78 coloured “corn” cubes that will be fed in the yards each round, a deck of fowl and fox cards that players will use to secretly choose what they want to eat that round, and a 6-sided die that is used to fight over the picnic!
The fun comes in secretly choosing where to send one of your chickens each round, to get the most corn. (Each player chooses a card from their hand and these are revealed simultaneously, and then resolved). If other players choose the same yard, you will have to fight over the corn. Or if other players send foxes to that yard your chicken might end up being the picnic! The player with the most corn plus chicken dinners at the end is the winner.
A nice, light, fun game. There is some strategy in second guessing the other players, but also a lot of luck in the draw of cards (both good and bad). Small children might not like their chickens being eaten by foxes. Repeated play reveals different interesting aspects of the strategy, but also the amount of sheer luck.
