The patient's name is Louis Leroy. He is a native of France, 40 years of age, and a painter by occupation and he has been in the hospital about ten days. His family history is good, and he says that he has never had any serious illness, but that three years ago he met with an accident by which three of his ribs were broken. Three months ago he caught cold, and he then began to cough and to have a pain in the side. He also suffered from dyspncea and general weakness.
