When I first started playing this game, I did not like the look of it. The graphics are nothing more than sprites on an isometric grid. My opinion changed as I played.
The seemingly outdated graphics do not hurt the game at all. It simply is the style of the game. And since the sprites are easy to draw, there is a lot of diferent animations. 100 useable characters and 400 diferent attacks which any character could use.
The gameplay is the best part in this game. This game avoids the one pitfall in the Final Fantasy series, the boring battles. Since the battles are on a 3d battlefield, it is a lot more strategic. You may find yourself battling to train your characters over and over but it won't get boring (well, as fast).
Another quick point, your characters have no limit to how powerful they can become or how many moves they can learn.
Lastly, the story is actually decent. It actually makes you want to rush through the battles so you can see the next part. And with each of the 20 episodes being at least 2 hours long, you've got yourself a really decent game.
